About The Chorus
Formed in 1997, The Toronto Northern Lights (TNL) is the 2013 International Chorus Champions of the Barbershop Harmony Society. TNL has represented Ontario 13 times at the Barbershop Harmony Society’s International Chorus Competition, winning medals 12 times and earning consecutive silvers from 2001 to 2005. In 2000, the chorus won the CBC Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs. TNL has performed for audiences in the USA, Sweden, Germany, England, Holland, and China.
The chorus attracts members of all ages, backgrounds and employment. Although Toronto based, members also come from Montreal, Ottawa, London, Buffalo and Detroit!
TNL’s repertoire ranges from Barbershop to Broadway, Vocal Jazz to Doo-Wop and Gershwin to the Beatles. They have five CDs, including their most recent, “Dare To Dream”, and a two-disc DVD set, “Welcome to the Sandbox”.
