About The Chorus

Founded in 1997, The Toronto Northern Lights (TNL) is the premiere masculine-presenting barbershop chorus in Ontario known for its dynamic and innovative performances. For decades, TNL has shared its music with audiences across Canada, the United States, Europe, and Asia.

TNL has perennially represented Ontario at the Barbershop Harmony Society (BHS) International Chorus Competition over the years, winning a total of 15 medals. Beyond the BHS stage, the chorus has participated in such celebrated competitions and festivals as the CBC Radio Competition for Amateur Choirs and the Llangollen International Eisteddfod.

The chorus’s repertoire ranges from Barbershop to Broadway, Vocal Jazz to Doo-Wop, and Gershwin to the Beatles. TNL has recorded five CDs and a two-disc DVD set, “Welcome to the Sandbox”, documenting TNL’s imaginative journey towards success.

TNL brings together singers of all ages, backgrounds, and musical experience. As an inclusive and supportive community, the chorus is committed to artistic excellence while welcoming new members who share a passion for choral singing, a cappella harmony, and the barbershop style.
